Let's all jump on the bandwagon!
Guys, Wayne agreed to go on South Beach with me for TWO WEEKS. This is huge. He's on day two, I'm on two and-a-half (I started in the middle of the day before he did).
It's only day two and I already notice a difference. You probably can't, because really.. what could've happened in two days? But my pants this morning were a teeny bit looser, and I feel better than I have in a long time.
Don't get me wrong, it is a strange feeling. I haven't had any sugar in my body (other than lactose, which doesn't make you produce more than the the teeniest drop of insulin) for almost three days. Yesterday, I was exhausted around two -I didn't notice before, but I always get some caffiene or sugar around that time. I made it until eleven before crawling into bed. This morning I was up at 5:30. That is a miracle in itself, and it is because I wasn't trying to sleep off a crash from a sugar high.
The basis of the SBD is controlling insulin. Too much sugar means you produce more insulin than you need, and the excess not only wipes you out and makes you hungry, it can lead to diabetes and kidney problems. It's crazy.
So, two weeks with no sugar, bread, caffiene, or fruit, and we'll see where we are.
I should mention this, too. I don't know if it is because I'm actually going through with something that requires discipline, or if there's a chemical relation to what I've been eating, but my mind is not as messed up as it used to be.
Countdown to 21... 29 days. (This countdown is everywhere; you'd think I was the first person to ever turn get legal.)

As your pseudo-South Beach commiserator, three days into the Month of No Caffiene and I have one of the worst migraines of my entire life. So I'm glad YOU feel good. :)
