In the Sweet By and By...
Now, I seem to remember someone betting me a dollar I couldn't get Kailey to "babble backup"... I'll be collecting that dollar now.
Kailey has started singing. I wouldn't call it tuneless, but I would say that I am reminded of a few choice scenes from "The Miracle Worker" every time she starts. She'll listen intently to music, usually on the radio but tonight it is an Irish folk-gospel concert on PBS. I put it on to help her sleep, but she has become so wrapped up in the songs she tries to sing along. It's amazing that someone so small not only understands music enough to be emotionally affected by it, but that she would also try and recreate the sounds she's hearing is even more incredible. She closes her eyes, breathes deeply and wails. She varies the tune and makes up words.
I can't get that child to sleep, but she may be the next Joss Stone with a little encouragement.
