PJ's to the rescue!

Sorry it's been so long. I haven't had any time at work, and after eight or nine hours at a computer, the last thing I want to do is talk to anyone through the computer.

It was a nice christmas. I had a nice talk with Alicia about our men (her fiance is my uncle); I got to see the cousins; my uncle and I sat and read the whole Post Secrets book. There's a blank post-card-sized rectangle on the back page, with "What's your secret?" written above it. My dad taped a little card to it that said, "I use my children's Christmas gifts before I wrap them. Christmas, 2005." It made me laugh.

Between Wayne and my Mother, I now have a slew of new books to read. I'm working on:

"Teacher Man" by Frank McCourt. Based on the preface, which is all I've been through so far, he believed he didn't give teaching the honors it deserves in his other books. This one focuses more on the battlefield of the classroom.

"How To Talk To A Liberal (If You Must)" by Anne Coulter. This one is self-explanatory, and so far, so good. Very much a politically confrontational book. Well-written and really funny.

"Playboy's Guide to Bartending" again... self-explanatory.

"The Queen of Subtleties: A Novel of Anne Boleyn" by Suzannah Dunn. This one's so-so. Halfway through and we still don't have an antagonist or even a basic crisis. The writing is strong when it focuses on one particular character, but generally I can't say it's very good. I think Dunn was going for a post-modernistic style of writing and missed the target; the disorganization of the storyline makes this one hard to follow.

"Post Secrets" by Frank. I don't remember his last name, the book is totally across the room and I'm totally not moving. I'll lend anyone this book, though. It's great. I felt so much better after I'd seen what other people are hiding.

"The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe" by C. S. Lewis. Wayne bought me this because I was in the play freshman year, and I'd seen the movie, but I've never read the book. That still stands, this is the bottom of the list. I cracked it to read the beaver scene, and that was all.

There's my goal for the day, I'll try and come back and update later. I took the day off from work to recouperate (We spent our one day off overhauling the decor and organization of the house) and I'm still sick as hell.

Happy Ramachaunakwaanzimas!
